Room Parents

Room parents are an important link between your child’s teacher, the parents of other children in the class, and the PTO. The primary purpose of a room parent is to recruit other parents to assist with a variety of functions and activities.

Some of the responsibilities of a room parent include:

  • Communicate with classroom teacher and classroom parents
  • Coordinate parents to host and/or help with the classroom parties for Halloween, Winter Holiday, and Valentine's Day
  • Recruit parents to chaperone field trips
  • Recruit parents to volunteer at school events and PTO programs such as Special Lunch, Fall Fest, etc.

Please note, Room Parent assignments are determined in mid-August, after classroom assignments are completed by school administration. As soon as classroom assignments are announced, our PTO volunteers work quickly to ensure each classroom has Room Parents. Some classrooms may have more volunteers than needed, and other classrooms may not have enough volunteers, but we try to give all parents a fair opportunity to participate!

Room Parents will be announced by the Friday before school starts. The PTO hosts an in person training/Q&A session and a Room Parent & Teacher Luncheon the day before school starts. Details will be included when Room Parent assignments are made.
